This project aimed to explore different approaches to digital-first, open access publishing. The task was to identify the practical challenges, as well as opportunities, for producing and distributing successful publications in an increasingly technologically-driven and information-saturated environment.

The project relied on using open-source material found on the internet to construct content. As the basis for the project, I used Jean Baudrillard’s text Simulations to explore the themes surrounding ‘fake-news’ and ‘post-truth’. Choice of typefaces were also restricted to public domain works – such as Google Fonts.

The result is a printed book (available to purchase through Blurb and restricted by their design parameters), an interactive PDF (through ISSUU) and a supportive digital introduction using NewHive.
